SCENT:
Lily of the valley, always.
SOUND:
When Ben Becker reads Rilke’s poems — goosebumps.
UMAMI:
Right in the middle and completely absorbed. When silence gets very loud.
AND OTHERWISE:
Completely at home
I’ve been cooking since I could hold a knife. Cooking and I — that’s a great love! Baking tins and I —
not such close friends. The kitchen is my space — it’s home to me. Discovering, writing and
inspiring — that’s my thing.
Founding storykitchen was pure fulfillment for me. Working with all the wonderful people, products and ideas simply makes me HAPPY.

SCENT:
Sweet peas and a breeze of sea air!
SOUND:
Preferably live — and with plenty of bass.
UMAMI:
Yoga flow — and dough! Gnocchi, pasta, braided yeast loaf...
AND OTHERWISE:
Always follow your nose
I have a very good nose — as a child I had to smell everything! It drove my mother crazy. I don’t just stick my nose everywhere, but also my fork. I find unusual, bold combinations of ingredients and aromas exciting. And every recipe or cookbook that falls into my hands I study intently. I rarely cook them one-to-one, but they are a wonderful source of inspiration!

SCENT:
The freshness of the forest after rain
SOUND:
The chirping of crickets in the garden on a balmy summer night
UMAMI:
Fragrant coffee, French novels, dark red wine
AND OTHERWISE:
Tracking down stories, playing with words
In the kitchen the heart beats and the mind takes a deep breath. Scents and sounds here promise more than just deliciousness. Amidst chopping, sizzling, bubbling and scrubbing, we trade sparkling anecdotes, cheerful rumors, the hot news of the day — and sometimes even existential questions. In the kitchen I also find relaxation while working, because as soon as I dive into slicing vegetables or fully focus on baking, a flow state sets in. And when the result is tasty and praised, my heart leaps — just like with a well‑crafted text or a perfectly placed story about my favorite clients in the press.

SCENT:
Freesias — my whole life long. They smell so fresh and always remind me of my carefree childhood. I’m a December child, and back home it was hard to get these flowers for my birthday. My parents managed it every time.
SOUND:
Café del Mar music in every situation — it always makes me feel carefree.
UMAMI:
And one day I’ll just stay there. Leave everything behind — GREECE.
AND OTHERWISE:
I find it fascinating how much my culinary roots shape me. I travel a lot and love to try new things, but at the end of every trip I most look forward to a good wood‑fired bread with butter and salt.

Always follow your nose.
SOUND:
Tones in every shade — for every situation.
UMAMI:
Small portions of happiness keep you satisfied the longest.
AND OTHERWISE:
Escaping the roux
Although I grew up on roux and canned peas, I started early on to bake cakes myself and cook the odd dish. A passion was born. Today my kitchen is the central place, the heart of the home — to cook, tinker, experiment and enjoy with friends and family. Because love goes through the stomach. And mishaps and moments of joy are part of it.

SCENT:
Waking up to the smell of pancakes on Sunday morning.
SOUND:
That almost‑silence when everyone loves the food.
UMAMI:
Knowing there’s seconds.
AND OTHERWISE:
Food — so much more
I love to eat. I love to cook. Farmers’ markets. Playing with ingredients. Gathering people at one
table. Helping yourself from lots of bowls. Seconds. A sausage on the hand from the butcher next
door. Grandma’s apple strudel. A pinch of nutmeg in the potato‑leek soup at my favorite inn. Dad’s
roast pork. New flavors in new countries. The colors. The fizz in the glass. The shapes. Trying
things that seem odd. The aromas and endless combinations. The conviviality. The joy. Lingering.
Food — so much more than nourishment!

SCENT:
Memories hanging in the air.
SOUND:
“Pata Pata” by Miriam Makeba — music is the one language that needs no translation.
UMAMI:
A morning with sunshine, coffee and cinnamon rolls.
AND OTHERWISE:
Cooking = art. Art = cooking
I love comparing cooking with art. The love of detail, improvisation, sensuality and of course the
colors appear in both. Inspiration is my focus — when illustrating as well as when cooking. I love
trying new things and approaching challenges playfully. The best moment is when an illustration
becomes a feast for the eyes and in the kitchen I can enjoy a feast for the palate.

SCENT:
Pine trees with a hint of sea breeze.
SOUND:
My daughter, when she describes the world through her eyes.
UMAMI:
A dinner at our favorite Italian with the whole family.
AND OTHERWISE:
Design with heart and soul
“Dinner is ready when the smoke alarm goes off!” — declares the tin sign that hangs on my kitchen
door, not without reason. You might assume I like to experiment, but let’s be honest: some people
simply prefer eating to cooking.
And I definitely belong to that group (baking excluded — that often turns out quite well). Can you be
part of storykitchen without chef skills? Sure — too many cooks spoil the broth anyway. And someone
has to stage the ideas that the others work on so passionately — with just as much passion.

Vanilla.
SOUND:
Johann Sebastian Bach — Air (D major).
UMAMI:
Evening. Friends. Good food.
AND OTHERWISE:
Tech with a pinch of spice
IT is a bit like cooking — it doesn’t always work the first time. For perfect results you need
experience, the right ingredients, and composure when things get hot. Whether it’s about websites,
apps, or your infrastructure — my goal is that in the end you’re satisfied and well fed.

Freshly ground coffee.
SOUND:
The chirping of birds in the morning outside my window.
UMAMI:
Feet in the sand and eyes on the sea — or in it.
AND OTHERWISE:
Enjoyment makes life more beautiful.
Food can do so much more than just fill you up. As a nutritionist, I know it also nourishes our
bodies. Fortunately, you can have both — healthy and truly delicious. I often experience little
moments of happiness in the kitchen when I tinker with new recipes, or at the table when everyone
lingers together, satisfied and full, with a glass of wine. I love the stories behind people and
products. When I travel, I’m always on the lookout for unfamiliar aromas and exciting flavor
combinations. The spices I bring back then soothe my wanderlust at home — at least for a while.

Scent of the sea.
SOUND:
The rustling of a gentle summer breeze.
UMAMI:
Enjoying wine at sunset on the veranda overlooking the bay.
AND OTHERWISE:
Culinary journeys around the world.
Flavor experiences are what I remember most after a trip: the scent of Mediterranean herbs and
spices; Thailand’s juicy fruits; Greece’s fresh seafood; Italy’s authentic pasta and pizza; éclairs —
that uniquely French art of seduction… all of this is pure enjoyment and inspiration for me. I cook
and bake with passion, listen to music and, when I’m in the best mood, I sometimes dance. The
crowning moment is celebrating the result with family and friends.

Freshly peeled mandarins.
SOUND:
The sound of waves with the chirping of cicadas.
UMAMI:
Delicious variety served in small bowls in the middle of the table to share.
AND OTHERWISE:
“One cannot think well, love well, sleep well, if one has not dined well.” (V. Woolf)
For me, there is hardly anything more beautiful than enjoying fine food and drink with family and
friends. These are precious moments in a hectic everyday life, when we share time, laughter, tears
and stories. Every time I taste these foods and drinks, vivid memories are awakened.
